AAF confirms Isinbayeva’s pole vault world record

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) on Monday ratified Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva’s world record of 5.06m, set earlier this year.Isinbayeva, who missed defending her world championships title after failing to clear a height in Berlin this past August, set the new mark at the Weltklasse meet in Zurich on August 28.

Her performance bettered her own previous mark of 5.05, set at the Beijing Olympic Games last summer.

Isinbayeva has broken the world outdoor and indoor records 27 times.
