Double world record holder Usain Bolt and his Jamaican rival Asafa Powell will continue their pre-Olympic season in Europe on Thursday at the Samsung Diamond League in Rome.
Both Jamaicans will renew their rivalry in the men’s 100-metre dash.
This will be Bolt’s second outing in six days following his disappointing 10.04 second victory in Ostrava on Friday.
That performance was his worst since running 10 seconds flat in winning in Toronto in a rainstorm in June 2009.
For the former 100-metre world record holder Powell, the race will be his second in 12 days. Powell is also coming off a disappointing victory. He won the 100-metre in Shanghai in 10.02 seconds.
Bolt and Powell will clash with four other Jamaicans. They are Lerone Clarke, Jacques Harvey, Kimmari Roach and Ainsley Waugh.
There are four Jamaicans on the entry list for the women’s 100-metre dash. They are Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Sherone Simpson, Kerron Stewart and Schillonie Calvert.
Meanwhile, the Jamaican pair of Olympic champion Melaine Walker and Kaliese Spencer will face off with American Lashinda Demus in the women’s 400-metre hurdles.
The other Jamaican listed on the entry list is Kimberly Williams, who will compete in the women’s Triple Jump.
