London Olympics 2012 : Dawn Harper v Lolo Jones' duel

LONDON – Two-time Olympic hurdler Dawn Harper said she will appear on TV’s “Today” show on Thursday.

Harper, who won the 100-meter hurdles at 2008 Olympics and the U.S. Olympic Trials in June, is a medal contender again when the event opens in London on Aug. 6.

“In 2008, I was a baby and no one knew who I was – except for (my coach), training partners and family,” said Harper, who was 24 at the Beijing Games. “And now as I walk around, people want their pictures with you."

Among those watching will be her father, Henri, and three siblings who live in Iowa City.

Waiting to step on the track for a second Olympics demands managing the pressure, despite the attention a gold medalist and “Today” show guest can receive.

“I tell myself, ‘You’ve done the 100 hurdles a million times.’ ” Harper said.
