Tyson Gay beat his fellow American Justin Gatlin in the 100 meters at the Paris Diamond League meet Friday. Gay won in 9.99 seconds after Gatlin did not sustain a good start and finished in 10.03. Eleven days ago, Gay was beaten by Gatlin at the United States Olympic trials.
David Rudisha was one of five athletes to set a world season’s best at the meet but came up short
by 0.53 of a second in his effort to break his own world record in the 800 meters, clocking 1:41.54. The Australian Sally Pearson won the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a world-leading 12.40 seconds.
