LAUSANNE, Switzerland — Yohan Blake ran the second-fastest time ever in the 100 meters, clocking 9.69 seconds to win at the Athletissima Diamond League meeting on Thursday.
Blake took 0.06 off his personal best time, which he ran when runner-up behind Usain Bolt at the London Olympics earlier this month.
Bolt holds the 100 world record of 9.58.
Blake also ran 9.75 to beat Bolt in the Jamaican Olympic trials.
Blake, who ran into a slight headwind, equaled the 9.69 run by Tyson Gay of the United States in 2009 at Shanghai, China.
Gay placed second behind Blake on Thursday in 9.83.
